Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gavin Smith

This Thursday I drove the long six hours from Norman, OK to Houston, TX to attend our friends' (Logan's roommate's) wedding.  Logan and Gavin were roommates for all four years of college and both graduated this May.  Logan was a groomsman in the wedding and I finally got to see him for a little bit before he left on his big trip.  Boy did he look handsome!

I thought I would share the few pictures I did take with you all.  It was a beautiful wedding and they are so happily in love.  I had a blast and the wedding guests were still talking about mine and Logan's dance skills this morning!  We were the hit of the dance floor!  Unfortunately, I don't have any of us together, but as soon as I find someone who does have one, I will get it and put it up here.

If only my camera lens were working right, these would have turned out a lot better and I would have been able to get a lot more pictures.  There were so many cameras there that night that I bet I could find a few more.  Hope you liked them!  We sure did have fun!  Congratulations Gavin and Kerri!

P.S. Happy Father's Day everyone :)

My Mountain Man Is Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail

TODAY IS THE DAY!  My mountain man is beginning his hike along The Pacific Crest Trail.

For those of you who have no idea what the Pacific Crest Trail is, it is a hiking trail that runs from the border of Mexico and the US to the border of Canada and the US along the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountains.  Its name is the Pacific Crest Trail and it is a total of 2,600 miles end to end.

My boyfriend/mountain man/love of my life is going to leave me to fulfill one of his many dreams to hike this trail from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington where he will then fly home to be in my loving arms once more.  Can you tell that I am going to miss him dearly?  Well I am.... but I am very super excited for him to be living a dream and doing something spectacular that makes life worth living.  He left on his plane today, will start hiking tomorrow, and won't return until just before he is a groom's man in his cousin Jade's wedding November 9th.  He is starting out hiking for a couple weeks with my brother and I can't wait to hear all about their time out there together!

In order to help myself cope with him being gone, I have taken up a new job requiring me to work nights and weekends when I would usually be spending time with Logan, finding time to hang out with friends one last semester before it is off to student-teaching land, and creating update posts on my blog to show you and me his progress.  In order to make it spectacular and fun, I have joined TripTracker.net to bring you updates on Logan's location day by day.  I will have a widget (blogging term for "picture" or "box") on the side of my blog that displays a map of Logan's location (as I enter it manually) and some stories and comments that I hear from him.

We have a plan of me mailing him resupply boxes at local towns along the way where he will stop long enough to either mail me a letter or postcard or make a phone call.  I will cherish those times and make sure my phone is on and loud!  When I get information I will be sure to pass it on to you.

Feel free to follow along on his hike along with me!

You can click on the following link to find all the posts dedicated towards his hike:  Logan's Thru Hike of the PCT

You can follow and/or read his travel blog by clicking here.

Here are some pictures of the first two resupply boxes that I have already sent to him.  I sent them earlier this week before I left for Houston and hopefully they will arrive to him in one piece.  Inside each one is a variety of things including:  toothpaste, brownies, Snickers, oatmeal, maps, Ramen Noodles, a card from me, some extra spending cash, trail mix, chapstick, etc.  I drove down to Houston with his duffel bag filled with his backpack, sleeping bad, trekking poles, and hiking boots.  I dropped him off at the airport and can't wait to hear all about his adventures!

Song I Am Currently Obsessed With:

"Over the Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin

Something about this song is just so intriguing to me.  I have listened to it over and over about 10 times now and it just doesn't get annoying.

Ever since Logan made us a CD of Led Zeppelin songs for our trip to Zion over Spring Break, I have been obsessed with the band!  I play it over and over in my car and never get sick of it-especially this one song!  I love the guitar part!

I am also in love with their album, Mothership, even though I recognize it's not really an album, more of a collection of favorites.  I still love that most of their songs that I like are on it.  I would be happy for a very very long time if I were able to have that album on vinyl, but it's around $50 even used on Amazon and Ebay... So lame.

Take a listen and enjoy :)
